Chichester District’s Future Planning Policy

Local people are being reminded they have a further two weeks to have their say on how many new homes should be built and where they should be located.

Consultation is underway on part of a plan that will map the future of the district. The document can be found on the council’s website at www.chichester.gov.uk/localdevelopmentframework. The deadline to comment is Friday 23 September.

“It is vital that residents, businesses and organisations give us their views as they can help to influence development of all types. So if you’re interested in helping to shape Chichester District’s future then log on to the website, visit one of our offices or visit your local library,” says Janet Duncton, Cabinet Member for Planning and Housing.

The consultation can be viewed online or hard copies are available at the council’s offices at East Pallant House in Chichester and area offices in Midhurst and Selsey. You can also see copies at all the libraries in the Chichester District.

Residents can provide the council with their comments in two ways:

  • online – by visiting http://chichester-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal and filling out the form; or
  • by sending comments or letters to: Freepost Chichester LDF. Residents should make clear which question they are answering in their response.

The plan will not cover the entire district, as the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) is responsible for planning in the north of our district. Therefore, it will include the south of the district (Chichester, Tangmere, Selsey, East Wittering and Bracklesham); and parts of the north-east (including the villages of Kirdford, Loxwood, Wisborough Green, Hammer, part of Camelsdale, and Plaistow and Ifold).

The consultation asks:

  • how many houses should be provided?
  • where should housing should be built?

Residents can find out more by contacting the Planning Policy Team at Chichester District Council, East Pallant House, 1 East Pallant, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1TY. Telephone: 01243 534571, or email: ldf@chichester.gov.uk
